Man on the moon...

Hello friends,

It's a new month and its time for a new Challenge over at the Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media Challenge blog and the theme this month is Boys/ Men and to be honest I was very confused as to what should I do, and I did start on this theme a couple of times and left halfway through it as it just wasn't going the way i needed it to, but one night while putting my son to be I just had this picture in my head that I wanted to try and recreate so this is my project for this month, hope you feel inspired.

I am an instinctive crafter, there are times when I just do know what to do and sometimes if the project does not turn out the way I envision it can really set me back but this project came out very close to what I wanted and that makes me really happy.

So I started with a scrap trap of some wooden puzzle basse and painted it black on the back. Next I painted a night galaxy sky with purple and blue and white...also added the white splatters to represent the stars. I kept a part of the galaxy pretty white as i wanted that to be my light source....

Next, i was super excited to make the surface of the moon and since i need it to have a lot of texture I thought it was a perfect opportunity to use a new product from my stash- Fibre paste and since that has loads of texture i added it to some acrylic paint to build my moon.

While my moon was drying I used images from the internet and printed them using inkjet printer on piece of drawing book paper. Fuzzy cut out the images i needed and layer it to add some thickness and dimension an stability.

As i started laying the images on the background, realized that the left side of my layout was pretty bare and needed something so I free handed an image of earth in the distance

Stuck the collage pieces with matt medium and added shadows and highlights using gray paint and white gel pen. Finished it all of with a Handwritten quote by Neil Armstrong when he first stepped on the moon.

Hope this was fun for you and you feel inspired....
I will see you soon. Happy crafting

  1. Cool card, and a moment in time I will never forget! NJ!

  2. Stunning work. I honestly thought you were showing us a photograph of the moon and stars at first, which you were going to use for inspiration, then I started reading and realised your picture was in fact a drawing and colouring from you. My chin is still on the floor lol. I was certainly proved wrong, wasn't I? Lol. Thankyou you so much for the inspiration Xxxx

Thankyou for visiting my blog! would really like to know your feedback!! HUGS
