My Best Friend: My Brother

Hello friends

August has been the month of celebrating the most valued relationships Rakshabandhan and friendship and I believe that the first friend you make is with your sibling if you are elder one you naturally develope a protectiveness for the younger one and if you are younger one then you look up to your elder brother and/or sister. They are the ones you can share everything with even things that you might not share with your parents... This bond has a beautiful journey full of all kinds of emotions.

I have been blessed with an elder brother and we shared a strange bond as kids as we were constantly fighting but as we grew older we shared everything with each other...we loved talking and would spend nights just chit chatting and sharing anything and everything under the sun, we are and were each others confidants. Growing up, we never stayed in one place for long and would shift often due to my father's job; this meant new place, new school, new friends but the my brother is the one life-long friend I have and we shared the same set of friends.

I made this for my brother this year!!

Sorry for not having the process pictures here but i will list the supplies and the steps here and that should be sufficient to understand as its a pretty simple process.

Supplies:

300 gsm white Cardstock (CS)
Distress Inks: picked raspberry, tumbled glass, mustard seed and spiced marmalade
word stamp set from Jags (a local store) but you may use any word stamps
Black gel pen, (optional)
Gold CS
Yellow satin ribbon
Peek-a-boo stitched rectangle dies(optional)
sequins red, orange, blue pink and gold
Empty i card sleeve
Memento tuxedo black ink
Blending foam tool
ruler
scissors
scotch tape
Die cutting machine (optional)
Strong adhesive of choice
hole punch

Step 1:  Take two pieces of CS measuring 3 3/4 inches by 6 inches.

Step 2:  blend the inks onto the paper in rainbow order. (this works better as it progressing with complenting colours order). Once happy with the blended CS keep them aside to dry. follow the same colour order on both pieces of CS.

Step 3: To create the shaker card take the id-card sleeve and fill the sequins and tape the open end with scotch tape making sure that no space is left for sequins to fall out. (if you want to see how to do this you click here .

Step 4:  Take the two pieces of CS (which are now dry) and create a window using the smallest die framelit in the stitched die set make a window measuring 23/8 inches by 3 5/8 inches (in case you do not have dies/die cutting machine you can cut the window out using these measurements also if it can be changed to 21/4 by 3 1/2 also just to make measuring easier). I placed my window at 3/4 inch from 3 sides and 1 3/4 inches from top.

Step 5:  Take a 3 inch by 4 inch piece of gold CS and cut out the same size window as was cut earlier. This will create the frame for the window.

Step 6:  Sandwich the sequin sleeve that we made earlier between the two CS window panel and use a strong glue to adhere completely. Cut the top corner at an angle to give tag shape.

Step 7: Use the smaller pieces of CS (window cut out) as small take and stamp the sentiment of choice using Memento tuxedo black ink. Adhere this to the top side of the larger Tag at an angle. Adhere the remaining small piece of inked CS on the back side.

Step 8:  Punch a hole on the top thread a ribbon through and tie a knot.

Step 9: I doddled BHAI on the sentiment and then went around the outer edge of the large tag using a black gel pen.

Hope this was clear and in case you would like me to give you a picture tutorial please lemme know in the comments below.
