CD Mosaic: Recycled Photoframe!!!

Hello Crafters,

Welcome to my first DT post for Happy Little Stampers Mixed media Challenge. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kylie for having faith in me and helping me out with all my queries and doubts.

So this months theme is Recycle. and this got me thinking about the various projects I have been planning to do but never got started on them and this project is the first step towards the final goal. So this is a mosaic frame done with CD (Compact Discs), pieces for tiles and grout.

The project is simple and I hope it inspires you to use things around the house to make new things and recycle them into beautiful art or utility pieces and help keep the environment safe to.....All the best.

So for this project i used
a wooden frame
some old CDs,
Epoxy compund or grout,
Glue (any PVA or white school glue should work depending on the surface being used)
Glass colours, u may used acrylics too if you like.

Collect all the supplies. Here you see a epoxy compound (it usually comes in 2 parts the resin and the hardener) you mix them together to make a smooth dough and then use it. You may find it easir to use grout instead.

Clean your CD thoroughly before you start, then use a sharp pair of scissors to cut precisely and slowly into small pieces, you need not worry about shapes and sizes as it can be further shaped depending in your requirement. On this project I used about 1" size pieces or smaller.

You can then go ahead and colour theses pieces before gluing them down on the surface or you may prefer to stick the pieces on the surface and then do the colouring at the end, whatever is comfortable to you.

You need to glue down the CD pieces on to your project leaving a little gap between them for the grout/ epoxy.

Here i used the epoxy compound and found that it gets really difficult to manage after a while as it starts to get stiff very quickly, I also tried with adding less hardener than in the instruction and they was little better but i woud still suggest that the grout might work better. I will try it again with grout soon and if i do i will let you know the result.
As you can see it was not applied evenly and i then had to sand down uneven looking to make it all even which took longer and made the project messier and then finally added another coat of glass paint to make it better. So that is why i suggest that you want to paint in the end instead of doing it first.

I hopw you enjoyed the project and would love to see what you guys come up with. looking forward to see your creations, Wishing you luck, Hugs and Kisses and a bigTHANK YOU for stopping by. I would love to have your feedback/ questions below!!

Have a wonderful day!!! Until next time happy craffting!!!

HUGS
