DIY Stamps -3 ways

Hello Friends

Continuing on my series of making DIY craft supplies; this time I am tackling stamps.
What are stamps? as per the dictionary an instrument for stamping a pattern or mark, in particular an engraved or inked block or die. it can also be said as a handheld device for inking and imprinting a message or design on a surface.

Materials used to make stamps are majorly - Rubber and photo polymer. and sometimes foam (here we are going to use foam)
There are varieties of stamps available in the market in beautiful and intricate designs but it is not possible for everyone to have all the stamps at all the times and there may be stamps that you rarely use and spending money on things that you do not use often can sometimes be a waste, so this article is meant to help you understand that you can make your own stamps especially if you will not be using it very often.

The list of supplies is provided below along with links where you may find them. I am sharing 3 ways here but you may have many more and if you do please do share.

1. Craft Punches:- These are available with most papercrafters in various designs and i find them apt to use to create small stamps or even a background stamp as a lot of punches cut outs can be stuck on a base to create a background.

2. Dies: If you have a variety of dies you can use them to create coordinating stamps. The craft foam is easily cut using dies and the edges are also very clean and this method can make very detailed and precise stamps.

3. Printed Images: In case of stencils we used images from the net to download and create stencils and this is true for stamps too. Search the web for images you need and download and save that image. Next take a print out of the image and stick it on the foam. Cut out the image and its details using scissors and /or  craft knife as per your convenience; back it up on another piece of cling foam or craft  foam and you are ready to use your stamp.

Lastly i would like to say that you can use cling foam that is also available in the market for ease of stamping as cling foam adheres to acrylic blocks very easily.

I hope you enjoyed this and will try it too...
Until Next time

DIY Stencils:- 5 ways

Hello Friends,

As crafters we are always buying and using more and more supplies but there are many supplies that we can create ourselves and save money to buy things that we cannot make...one such thing is Stencils. They come in variety of shapes, sizes and designs. Stencil are also used in many ways by paper crafters and artists and are used for various techniques, with many materials to enhance out projects.

I am sure many of you must me making and using your own stencils too... I am sharing the ways i use make my stencils here.

Materials:

1:- Use punches: most paper crafters have a variety of punches in their stash that they use for various purposes. you can use the same punches to punch out designs and use the negative space as stencils.

2: Printed images: You can search the internet to search various types of silhouette images that can be use to create stencils. once you have chosen the images save them on your computer/ or device and then print them out. Now tape your trasparent file folder pieces and tape it down, you may aalso use temporary adhesive then once you decide which areas you want to cut out, you can use a craft knife or scissors to cut and create your stencils

3 Use Stencil templates rulers: there are various types of rules that have designs already cut into them or maybe a quilling board that does not have cork board backing can be used to create or tacee patterns and cut out to use as stencils.

4 Dies : If you have many inttricate dies you may use the negative space to create or use as a stencil

5: Chipboard cut outs: these can also be used to trace designs and cut out to make stencils.

6: Freehand : You can freehand a design and cut around it to crate you stencils

So these were a few ways i create my stencils. Hope you enjoyed this post and i was able to give you some ideas to make your own stencils and save some money.

Sending happy thoughts card....

Hello peeps

Here i am with another card that is super simple and very earthy.

Started off with stamping my panel with leaves from the Altenew stamp set...and heat embossed it in white.

Coloured my panel in blues and greens to create texture and interest. once the panel was colured and dried; fuzzy cut some of the leaves away.

Added a strip of vellum and natural jute twine; stamped the sentiment on another piece of card stock and created a fish tail banner. Top it off applied wink-of stella clear shimmer pen all over the all the leaves, space where the leaf had hollow, shimmer was added to the base. Also added shimmer to the vellum strip.

Hope you enjoy this card.....

WCMD2016 Stretch your stamps with Kelly- used a sentiment stamp to create a background.

WCMD 2016 Background building with Shay: used a flower stemen stamp to crate a background

WCMD 2016 Pick and mix with Taheerah:- Colour- White blue lawn

My first SWAP- BOOKMARKS !!!

Hello Friends,

This post comes a lot later than I had planned it for I am Glad that I am finally doing it. So first things first, if you are not familiar with what a SWAP or SWOP is; it basically means that a group of people or even two people, in this case crafters decide on a theme and then make goodies based on those theme and at the end exchange them. It is loads of fun and it also helps you grow as you get to see how your partner has interpreted the theme and worked on it, you also get to learn a lot of techniques etc from fellow crafters.

Most popular art and craft materials suppliers and manufacturers in India!

Hello Crafters,

Crafting has been a very integral part of Indian culture through ages, though the trends in crafting keep changing. Most of us have grown up seeing someone in our family (mostly ladies ;-)) doing either stitching, embroidery or knitting or crocheting. Art has also been popular in various form like nib painting, alimunium painting etc. As have the demands of the markets changed so have the supplies available. When I started my crafting journey about 4years back finding pattern paper was challenge in the markets of Mumbai!!! of there a few shops that sold them but they were pretty pricey. I bought my first few stamps and tools on amazon the shipping cost totaled  to the cost of the supplies.
Now however the scenarios have changed and even the most popular Indian manufacturers have embraced the change and expanded their product lines. Here is a list of Most popular Indian Manufacturers and suppliers.  If you are an ardent crafter or artist this list might help you for most of your supplies.

My Best Friend: My Brother

Hello friends

August has been the month of celebrating the most valued relationships Rakshabandhan and friendship and I believe that the first friend you make is with your sibling if you are elder one you naturally develope a protectiveness for the younger one and if you are younger one then you look up to your elder brother and/or sister. They are the ones you can share everything with even things that you might not share with your parents... This bond has a beautiful journey full of all kinds of emotions.

I do not have many metallics in my stash so i decided that i will create a metallic looking frame.
I had this spoiled frame that was not good to look at but i have a problem throwing things, like is the case with most crafters i guess, so i decided to rework it such that i am able to use it.
